All About Bones
My name is Bones… it’s the name of my father’s father, and was the name that was given to me at birth.

I was born in San Diego (that’s German for a whales…well you know)

I moved to Avella Pa when I was just a little guy, and that’s when the legend really took off.  I cussed out my grandmother when I was only two (God bless her…she didn’t let me go play with my friend and I let her know how I felt). And around that age I also freed my mother’s pet bird Charlie (a cage is no place for an animal).

Let’s fast forward a little bit.

I started my star studded athletic career at the tender age of six. My baseball career started with the Avella Cubs. Not only was I a force at the plate, but I was also a terror on the base path. Due to car pooling issues I was traded (yes traded) to the Avella Indians… for a girl…. I never recovered.

My football career began at the age of 7. I was a beast at nose tackle. (Casey Hampton could have learned a thing or 2). I was on 4 little league championship teams (I know your jealous).

In high school I ruled Avella with an iron fist. The teacher would ask ME to be excused.

Due to a couple (4) lack luster seasons I decided to hang up the football cleats after my Sr. year.

I attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with the idea of becoming a history teacher. After my first semester I had kind of a low GPA…Broadcast journalism here I come.

In college I learned how to appreciate… the cheaper things in life. For only 9 dollars you could get a case of Ol’ G. Cheap beer is an acquired tasted. I was a member of a chameleon fraternity. I call it that because we wore 3 sets of letters before being absorbed by Phi Kappa Sigma. I was also the top star of the campus radio station. Yeah I pretty much ran that town. After college I returned to the Ohio Valley to work at Eagle.

Other things about me:

I’m a sports nut (Pittsburgh pro, Notre Dame college)

Movie nut (Kevin Smith Films, Star Wars, Borat, and of course The Departed)

I’m a South Paw

I love music

I equate everything in life to Star Wars

And…

Not only do I have stunning facial features, but I also have a dynamite personality.

some pens playoff goodness

Aft the first 2 games of the playoffs in the book I have decided to take a look back of 10 of the most memorable moments of Pittsburgh Penguin playoff hockey.

10. Ryan Whitney’s beat down of Wade Redden. Ok I’ll admit this is premature, but if the Pens continue to roll in the playoffs this season this could be one of those key moments you look back on. Whitney is a soft offense of defenseman, and him coming to the aid of his captain could be a turning point for him, and one the pens need him to make to have a deep playoff run.

9. Mario drops the gloves on Todd Krygier. This fight wasn’t really a fight at all Mario got mad, and embarrassed Krygier. Lemuiex got tossed cause of this fight, and the Pens and Caps played for extra periods before Nedved got the game winner.

8. Ryan Malone game winning wrap around. Like the Ryan Whitney fight it’s hard to tell what this goal will lead to, but the Pens let a 3 goal lead disappear with 1 minute left in regulation Ryan Malone stopped the bleeding with a beautiful goal, and gave the Pens a 2-0 lead in the series.

7. Jagr’s overtime winner. Jamir Jagr’s first career playoff goal could not have came at a better time. In the first round of the 1991 Stanley Cup playoffs the Pens trailed the New Jersey Devils 1 game to none. The Pens and Devils where in overtime of game 2 when Jags netted the game winner

6. Mario caps the comeback. In the first game of the 1992 Stanley Cup finals the Pens trailed the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1. The Pens started to battle back to tie it up, and number 66 put in goal 5 to give the pens a 1-0 lead in the series.

5. Petr Nedved’s 7th period goal. The Pens and Caps have always played each other close, and hard in the playoffs. In the marathon the pens had to go into overtime with out Mario because he was ejected in the third for fighting. After going 3 overtime periods with no scoring Petr Nedved got the game winner in the 4th overtime, or 7th period.

4. Jagr forces game 7. In the 1999 Eastern Conference quarter finals the Pens faced elimination going into game 6, plus it was thought they would be without their captin Jamir Jagr. Not only did Jagr play, but he scored a late third period goal to tie the game, and in overtime he scored the game winner forcing a game 7.

3. Kaspar wins it! In 2001 the Pens and Sabers series went 7 plus games. After the third period of the 7th game ended there was still hockey to be played, and the last shot of the night was going to win the series. NOBODY would have ever expected that shot would have belonged to Darius Kasparitis.

2. Mario owns the North Stars. It’s hard to say what was Mario’s most impressive goal. But in game 2 of the 1991 Stanley Cup finals Number 66 had a big one.
1. Pens Win!! Game six of the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals For the first time Pens are Stanley Cup Champs.
