BIO
I’m Danielle, and I’m the newest addition to the Eagle family…or simply “new girl” if you’re feeling like a smartass. Most people just call me Dee, but for some reason others feel the need to add a prefix, for example “Danger” or “Tenacious,” whatever works. The bottom line is that no matter what you call me, I am rocking the house every Sunday night right here on “The Rock Station.” So I guess this is the part where I tell you the story of my life…
Let’s begin at the beginning. I was born to a man and a woman who got married in blue jeans and moonboots, and divorced shortly thereafter. I have lived in the Ohio Valley for my entire life, but when I travel, “I’m from Pittsburgh” (oh come on, you do it too). I grew up, did the high school thing, and now I’m doing the college thing. For a while I lived above a college bar. From there I heard waaay too much Journey, stopped believing, and moved to the Wheeling area, which is where I now reside. In a nutshell, that’s where I’m from.
Moving on to the more important things in life…I LOVE music! I was raised on classic rock and blues music. As a toddler my favorite band was Fleetwood Mac and starting at this age I began “experimenting” with my dad’s stereo hi-fi tower in an attempt to figure out which button would play “The Chain.” After destroying many records around the house, my parents bought me a radio which I then used to record my very own radio show (ahh, the irony), interviewing nearby persons and forcing them to listen as it played back. Growing up in the 90s led to the development of my acquired musical tastes as I discovered the alternative genre, and the classics I had heard at home reinvented themselves through comeback albums and tee shirts sold in shopping malls. Radio has always been a passion of mine, so it is no surprise that I stayed tuned in to my favorites, (including Eagle, of course) 24/7 throughout high school. While in college I enjoyed a brief stay at the campus radio station before being offered, you guessed it, my very own radio show here on “The ROCK Station.” For as long as I can remember, people have been telling me that I talk too much; they just never told me that I could get paid to do it.
Let’s not forget concerts; concerts are my favorite! There is nothing better to do on a hot summer day than stumble merrily about an amphitheater drunk, waiting for a great band to play. I have been to more concerts that I can count for sure, but I would definitely place The Wailers at the top of my performance faves as well as Nine Inch Nails. Other shows that have rocked my world include (in no particular order): Tom Petty, The Counting Crows, Live, Steve Miller Band, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Ozzfest feat. Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Blink 182 (once upon a time), The Goo Goo Dolls, Aerosmith, Collective Soul, Tenacious D, Rob Zombie, The Black Crowes, and what was left of the Dead after Jerry Garcia passed away (I know, I know, that doesn’t count). |
